Watershed Boundary
The Big Pine Creek Watershed covers approximately 210,000 acres.
Water Testing
Quarterly water testing is done by our staff. These tests monitor temperature, nitrates, nitrites, dissolved oxygen, pH, orthophosphate, and turbidity.
The Slake Test
Performed at the 2022 Big Pine Creek Field Day. Hosted by Clark Farms.
Fish Shocking
Fish shocking is done once a year at different points throughout the watershed to measure the variety of species and number of fish in the creek. The animals living in the creek are an excellent indicator of water quality and habitat health.
TNC Tour
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) teamed up with the Benton County SWCD to host a new staff tour. The new staff was able to watch the “Land-Values” film, speak with a local farmer, and do some macroinvertebrate sampling in the creek. This was a great opportunity for people to learn more about the watershed they are working in and to experience the beauty of the Big Pine Creek.
